Yesterday, I completed my first half marathon (21.6KM). I’ve accomplished a few milestones this year since I have decided to start running, but yesterday has surpassed any feeling of accomplishment I have achieved this year. I started running last August, but stopped after only two months. This year at the end of February, I decided to get back into running and setting goals for myself. First being running a 5K race, then running 100KM total in one month. So signing up for a half marathon seemed like a hefty goal for me at the end of June. I started training very hard in July for the race, but pushed myself too hard to the point of injury. July and August were hard months as I couldn’t run due to the pain. Time really seemed like it was running out, and I started having doubts if I could complete the run in Detroit.
Completing the race, was truly a moment that i will remember for the rest of my life. Below is the map of my run:
I finished with an official chip time of 2:37:39
For sure, I will be going back to run next year. It truly was an amazing site running across Ambassador Bridge when the sun was rising.
